Job Description
The Stewardship Manager, WNO plays an important role in ensuring donors are informed and proud of the impact they make. The Manager helps design and execute a comprehensive, integrated individual donor stewardship and recognition program to inform, engage and delight our donors. The stewardship program will increase donor retention, engagement, and loyalty by effectively communicating both gratitude and impact while enhancing the donor experience. This includes managing the day-to-day execution of a comprehensive program that provides the Development team with the systems, processes, measures, workflows, and content to effectively steward individual donors at all levels.
Duties and Responsibilities
Stewardship Program Creation and Management
Maintain a comprehensive, integrated donor stewardship and recognition program within the greater membership program of the Kennedy Center, assuring that Washington National Opera (WNO) patrons receive a unique experience tailored to the culture of an opera organization.
Work closely with the existing stewardship and benefit structure to emphasize the benefits of involvement with the Kennedy Center and WNO.
Collaborate across the Development team to help develop and then manage an annual individual donor stewardship plan, with strategic touchpoints, stewardship events, and meetings throughout the year
Manage a calendar of donor communications across giving levels, looking for opportunities to leverage content across audiences. This includes project management and execution of an annual impact report in partnership with WNO’s General Director.
Work closely with the gift officers to schedule, manage and track donor touchpoints within moves management framework and within Tessitura (CRM database)
Build and refine the systems, processes, measures, and policies to ensure the donor stewardship program is effective and efficient.
Work with individual donor teams to implement and refresh acknowledgment strategies for various audiences.
Inventory and review solicitation, acknowledgements, stewardship, and donor recognition materials for quality and consistency. Determine gaps and lead creation of new materials in partnership with Kennedy Center Donor Communications and Stewardship team.
Work with the team to develop and support a strategic stewardship event strategy for the year
Work closely with the Kennedy Center special events team to execute all stewardship events during the season (Includes: Opening Nights, Young Artist events, Annual Dinner, etc…)
Contribute to the strategy and manage deployment of major donor communications and stewardship vehicles, including Impact Report, Young Artist updates, holiday card, birthday cards, etc…
Provide ongoing education and training for the Development team and colleagues on best practices in donor relations and stewardship.
Database management (reporting, list pulls, everyday up keep)
Management
Effectively manage Assistant Manager of Stewardship, WNO by supervising day-to-day work and investing in their continued professional growth,
Hold weekly check-in meetings and lead annual review process
Collaborate on projects often, providing the Assistant Manager a consistent opportunity to grow professionally.
Other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or applicable professional experience.
Minimum 3-5 years development or related experience required.
Working knowledge of the performing arts is preferred.
Candidate must be local or willing to relocate to the DMV area.
